Susan started Lazy Susan's "Hot Fat Crabs" in 1984 with a little shack on Rt 1where Nage is now located.  She served crabs, shrimp, clams, soft drinks and if you wanted beer you would have to bring it yourself.  The kitchen situation was very simple; it was an outdoor building with a steam kitchen.  Customers would order through a sliding screen window and then help themselves to a picnic table.  Outhouses and a handwash sink were provided.  It was a very rustic beginning!

In 1986 we moved the thriving business to a bigger location and rented a then small drive through convenience store in Tenley Court.  We added a steam kitchen in its drive though area and converted the convenience store section of the building into the lobby and deli area.  Next we started on indoor seating by building a 20x40 room on the front with a deck wood floor and covered the walls and ceiling with cedar.  The menu grew as well, as we now served beer and wine and began adding to the menu in small steps.  We added soups, salads, cold sandwiches, etc.
